Oil does not get used up. It gets dirty. We take it back, distil it under high vacuum, and return it to the market as clean base oil — over 7.2 million litres a year, using up to 85% less energy than refining the same oil from crude.

The process
What we do
Two operations, one loop
Used oil comes in at our refinery at Hemayetpur, leaves as base oil, and comes back through our own blending plant as finished lubricant.
Min Oils Limited — re-refinery
Re-refining used lubricants
High-vacuum distillation with fractionation, upgraded in 2010, producing recycled base oils equivalent to Group I virgin base stocks. The same oil can be recycled and reused indefinitely without losing quality.

Blending finished lubricants
A 10,000 MT per year blending plant, inaugurated in 2015 and certified to ISO 9001:2015, capable of making quality automotive and industrial oils for direct supply and for our distributor and retail network.

Transformer oil, regenerated
We regenerate the insulating oil in power transformers and serve the nation's power sector.
Since 2000 we have reclaimed transformer oils, restoring the electrical properties an insulating oil needs rather than replacing the oil. This introduces sustainability and substantiates saving for the power sector of Bangladesh.
We provide service to DPDC, DESCO, PGCB and REB, along with other notable private organisations.

Sampling and testing
Dielectric strength, moisture and acidity measured before anything is moved.

Regeneration
Contaminants and oxidizing components removed, and the oil's insulating properties brought back.

Testing and quality assurance
Retested against the same measures. The oil is re-used as insulating oil in power transformers.

The point of all this
One litre of used oil can spoil a million litres of water
Burning it wastes a resource that never had to be wasted. Re-refining it keeps 300,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas out of the air every year against burning the same oil for fuel.
